Stern TV broadcasts two-part documentary on Paddy Kelly

HP1 For the first time since his return from his life in the monastery, Paddy Kelly will be featured in a lengthy tv documentary. Stern TV followed him for half a year experiencing him back on stage and in the recording studio, but also during a stay at his former convent and finally accompanied him on a trip to ethiopia last march where he visited aid projects of Caritas International. The report will be broadcasted in two parts on May 16th and 23rd at 10.15 pm on RTL (Germany). On both occasions, Paddy will be a live guest on the show.

Agape: Paddy touring for charity

HP1 With his solo-project „AGAPE“, Paddy brings the EUROSARIUM-tour to Germany. In June he will be presenting spiritual concerts with subsequent prayer vigils in ten German churches. His intention: to counteract substantive and spiritual starving in the world. In this he is supported by the "Bonifatiuswerk der deutschen Katholiken". 10 Euros of every ticket will go to Caritas Germany for starving people in Ethiopia. Accompanied by Stern TV, Paddy visited the local aid projects last week. A report will be broadcasted in May before the tour kicks off. In addition to new songs that are going to be included on his next album and were mostly written during his time in the monastery, Paddy will also play some of his Kelly Family classics. His band of international musicians supports him with the two-and-a-half- to three- hour program, consisting of music, staging and prayer.

Paddy named the tour after the biblical term for the love of God and charity – „AGAPE“ and explains his choice: „These evenings are a way for me to combine my art with my faith and at the same time do something against the substantive starving in Africa and the spiritual starving here in Europe. I come across many people missing spirituality and happiness in their lives. In my life I was fortunate enough to experience the love of God. By means of events like these and my new songs I hope to be able to make this tangible for others as well and at once help starving people in Ethiopia. Only thinking about someone dying of hunger every four seconds despite the fact that there is actually enough food for everyone, causes an inner urge for me to involve myself.”

HAPPY NEW YEAR
"...we were giving what we were living and not just putting on a show."

With the Stille Nacht tour coming to an end, looking back in gratitude, Paddy wished to share some lines for all those who came and those who couldn't come. He will be holding other live performances during the EUROSARIUM TOUR in 2012 and plans to record and release a new solo CD in the new year as well. For those who wish to purchase a Live CD or the upcoming live DVD of the Stille Nacht tour, click here STILLE NACHT SHOP
StilleNacht01 Paddy, "This tour was certainly amongst the most blessed live experiences I have had so far. I was very touched to be back on stage and sing with my brothers and sisters after so many years, especially with the intention of combining the Christian faith and art; the true Christmas story with the music & history of my family, which I find worked out wonderfully. It was beautiful to have the new generation of Kelly kids come up on stage too and perform like we did when we were still children. This makes our Mother's wish to "Keep on singing!" continue even unto her grandchildren now.
StilleNacht03

The Christmas message of God's Love for us being one which adresses all people's, I was glad to see how the international team of participants (from Turkey, India, Canada, Marocco, Germany, France/Spain, Itlay/Switzerland, Austria, England, Ireland), consisting of believers and non-believers, Christians, Moslems and other beliefs, became one "Stille Nacht Family" throughout this Tour. The peace, love, joy, fraternity and unity between us all could be seen and felt on stage just as well as backstage, and this is a blessing, for we were giving what we were living and not just putting on a show.

StilleNacht02

The local children & youth choirs were a wonderful enrichment to the program. It was so nice to see these kids and youngsters sing joyfully and keep the good old traditional Christmas songs alive. Especially in a time when traditions and values seem to be disappearing and are often replaced with hours in front of the TV, Internet and computer games.

StilleNacht04

The amazingly positive response of the public was truly fantastic! I liked how we all became one family with them too, not having a distance between the performers and the spectators. This is something my father always thought at our concerts in the past, and I'm glad we managed to experience this. It was also so cool to see people of all ages come to the concerts, from little new born babies all the way up to persons in their 80's, wow! It felt like a family of families gathered around the Holy Family of Baby Jesus, Mary and St. Joseph.

I was greatly astonished to see visitors come from distant countries as far as China and Russia, and impressed by the many who travelled from Czeck Republic, Austria, Switzerland, Spain, Poland, the Netherlands and many other European nations, just to take part. God bless you for that! A great THANK YOU goes to all who came and took part in such an enthusiastic & quiet way. I am grateful for these moments of jubilation and silence we shared with you, and glad we achieved to have a spirit of peace and joy instead of hysteria at these concerts. Bravo!

Also, having a contingent of free tickets reserved for the impoverished and disabled -which the people from the Bonifatiuswerk organised- allowed us to not only speak or sing about love for neighbor, but to actually put it into practice. And I'm especially thankful to Manfred Hertlein (Tour Promoter) for making it possible that part of the ticket revenue goes for other works of Charity as well, which collected a total of 25.000 euros.

A deep thank you goes to the priests who came to celebrate Mass and hear Confessions on tour, for this enabled a certain number of us to keep the practice of our faith possible even on the road, and made us feel the "Emmanuel" (Mt 1:23) -that God is with us- in a special way. Also, a special thanks goes for all those who joined us in their prayers; the religious and faithful who were hidden and yet, with us "in spirit." As Jesus Christ said, "Without me you can do nothing" (Jn 15:5) and yet with Him, as it is said in the Bible, "Nothing is impossible for God" (Lk 1:37). May all this "Give glory to God in the highest and on earth peace to those of good will" (Lk 2:14).

I wish you all a blessed Christmas and a happy, healthy and holy new year!"

Yours Paddy Kelly

Vilnius - The City of Divine Mercy - confides Paddy with
the Divine Mercy Cross for the Eurosarium Tour

Vilniushead

On November 18th, during the closing ceremony of the Year of Divine Mercy held in Vilnius (Lithuania), Archbishop-Metropolitan Cardinal Audrys Juazos Backis blessed the Divine Mercy Cross and entrusted it to Paddy for the Eurosarium Tour with the words, "It is our gift to you." This Cross will travel all through Europe at the upcoming events of the Eurosarium Tour, where people are invited to venerate it and write their prayer intentions on it with markers, as Paddy did the same evening.

Before the blessing ceremony, Paddy gave a testimony and sang to the thousands of people on the street from the balcony of The Gate of Dawn -Shrine of the Holy Mother of Mercy- bringing everyone to laughter, tears and prayer, before carrying the Divine Mercy Cross and leading them all in procession to the St. Johns church where the evening continued with a spiritual concert, followed by a Vigil night of prayer.

Upon his arrival on November 17th, after visiting the Shrine with the Icon of Holy Mother of Mercy at the Gates of Dawn for a personal moment of prayer Paddy wished to see the Marienbild

famous original Image of Merciful Jesus in the International Shrine of Divine Mercy, which had been painted under the directions of St. Faustina back in the 1930's. A Meeting for Interviews with the lithuanian media followed in his schedule, before retiring in the monastery of the brothers of Saint John. Another moment for Testimony, Music & Mass was given on the morning of November 19th at the brothers of Saint John monastery before leaving the country.

Paddy: "Coming to Lithuania has been one of the most beautiful stations of the Eurosarium Tour so far. I am deeply thankful for the gift of the Cross and touched by the goodness of the hearts of the Lithuanians. It was so great to share these moments of faith & fun, peace & joy, music & dance with them and all those who came from other countries for this event. To be continued!"

"Stille Nacht" is no "Kelly Family - Comeback" Tour!

In the past days there were a lot of rumors about a „comeback“ of The Kelly Family. We want to clarify, that the Christmas Tour „Stille Nacht“, definitly is not a reunion or comeback Tour. "My brothers and sisters Patricia, Kathy, Paul, me (and for various dates also Joey) will join this project in December. We are looking forward to the concerts , but we want to avoid this: We do not want that the audience has wrong expectations. A kind of comeback or a cooperation as „The Kelly Family“ in the next years maybe is possible, but on the current dates it is neighter a comeback nor a collaboration as „The Kelly Family“ …"

All the best Paddy

The people of Kosovo thank Paddy for the song "Children of Kosovo" and call him "A man with a big heart."

Paddy in Kosovo

There was a whole Facebook "buzz" preceding his coming to Kosovo, to hold an evening of music, testimony and prayer in the Parish of Velehz, Prizren. In thanksgiving for what he did with his family for them in 1999, some youth performed a mimed choregraphy to the song -which brought many to tears- at the event held in Velezh, which was attended by far off visitors from Switzerland, Poland and Slovenia in adition to the many Kosovoalbanians present on the eve of May 14th.

Paddy in Kosovo

Father Don Marjan who invited Paddy and organised his pilgrimage to the origins of Bl. Mother Teresa in the days that followed, was moved to tears in his openeing words of welcome, thanking him for having helped the people of Kosovo "...when we were in our worst situation."

Numerous were those to express their gratitude during Paddy's first visit to Kosovo in May this year for the song "Children of Kosovo" which he wrote and completed with his family back in 1999, in view of helping the impoverished during the war, calling him "A man with a big heart." Former Minister of Culture Valton Begiri and the Bishop of Prizren Don Lush Gjergji personally thanked him for the aid which was brought to the poeple of Kosovo through the song which was released as a charity CD in conjunction with UNICEF, 12 years ago.
Young theater director Bekim Lumi spontaneously gathered his team of actors and associates and offered Paddy an unplanned performance of his piece "The Blood Shirt" at the Ethnological Museum in Pristina to thank Paddy as well.

Among the various media coverage during his visit was an interivew with KTV which you can view here :

Part 1

Part 2

Paddy was particularily happy to have met Father Don Lush Gjergji who was a close friend of Bl. Mother Teresa over 30 years, guiding him to the various places of her origins, including Skopje in Macedonia, during his stay.

Paddy, "It has been a true blessing to visit this country and come to know such a heartfelt people with their history and culture. I was particularily moved by the Christian minority from whom the invitation came, and glad to see a peaceful co-existence between Muslims and Christians here. I was very pleased to discover the Albanian origins of Bl. Mother Teresa and the roots of her vocation in the faith of her family. I feel like I have recieved more than I have given and hope to come back again at another oppurtune occasion."

Paddy´s new song "Unknown You" now available as a free download until March 25th.

Paddy Kelly - Unknown You

Paddy just finished recording his latest composition "Unknown You", which is a hymn the Pontifical Counsel for Culture (the Vatican) asked him to write for a project called the "Court of the Gentiles".

The "Court of the Gentiles" is a new platform Pope Benedict XVI sugested for a dialogue between believers and non-believers (see www.parvisdesgentils.fr or www.atriumgentium.org) for which the first of a series of events throughout the world will be taking place in Paris on March 24th and 25th.

Paddy: "It was great to work on this project with musicians and people who partly consider themselves non-believers, and others, who are of the Christian and Moslem faith. It was a fruitful experience and dialogue at an other language than the intellectual one, namely; the often more mysterious language of art. I am particularly happy that my brothers of the Community of St. John joined in on the recording session in studio with their singing, and that they will be part of the band at the event on the 25th of March at the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. This experience has brought me closer to the Unknown Genius behind it all, and I hope this song will have the same effect upon others too."

For those who want to watch Paddy´s performance on the 25th March via TV or internet, follow the direct transmission of the event with KTO TV or www.ktotv.com from about 19h30 onwards until his last intervention at around 22h55.

Paddy Kelly´s first public performance at the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris

After almost a year of public silence, Paddy will be holding his first official performance at the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris on the eve of the 25th of March 2011. This live event will launch a series of upcoming appearances in diverse Cathedrals and festivals planned throughout Europe this year.

Along with the other artists and interventions which are to take place outside on the square and inside the Notre Dame Cathedral, there will be a screened transmission from Rome in which Pope Benedict XVI, adressing the expected 8.000 young people, will answer the questions of a few chosen representatives during this festive event, which is to gather believers and non-believers in a dialogue on subjects as to the existence of God, faith and atheism, good and evil, life and death, the truth and lies, beauty and love.

Paddy was asked by the Pontifical Counsel for Culture -which is a department of the Vatican- to write and sing a Hymn for this project called, "The Court of the Gentiles" which is a new platform the Pope suggested over a year ago, for a constructive dialogue between believers and non-believers.

Paddy : "I am very grateful to have been considered for this project. I have often had postive conversations with persons for whom God is the Unkown, and I believe that this can be an enrichening moment for us so called "believers", who need to put ourselves in question to which extent we actually know the God we believe in. I see it as a privilige to have been asked to put my art at service of such a cause, for true art is a royal means for the elevation of our hearts and minds to the spheres of the Unknown, to expirience what Albert Einstein said to be the highest of wisdoms, the most beautiful emotion; the mystical emotion."

Greetings and blessings!

Welcome to the new official Paddy Kelly website which is now on-line and still in construction. Here you will find the latest official news concerning him and his upcoming activities.

After living six years as a monk in the Community of Saint John, Paddy Kelly has recently left religious life. Arriving at the term of his temporal vows, he decided to go back into the world and put his music in service of his faith, all whilst remaining bound to the religious congregation.

Here a few words of Paddy:

"These last 6 years have been the most extraordinary time of my life. I am so grateful to God, to Fr. Marie Dominique Philippe and my brothers of the Community of Saint John for this profound encounter with Jesus and experience of His love. Saint John wrote, "God is love" (1 Jn 4:8) and this is truly what I was given to see during this precious period in which I received so many graces. With the words of Mary, I can but say, "The Almighty has done great things for me, holy is His name!" (Lk 1:49). I’m happy He brought me thus far and confident in what is still to come."

Paddy Kelly entered the novitiate house in France in 2004 and received the religious habit and name Brother John Paul Mary 8 months later. He pronounced and absolved the time of his temporal vows, the four years of philosophical studies and first year of theology and accomplished apostolic activities with his music and testimony all over Europe. He is now finishing some of the new music he had already begun to compose as a brother, and is working on some projects he plans to realize in the near future.

To be continued.
